Seasonal Movement (Regular), Typeface, 2019
Seasonal Movement (Regular) is a typeface based on the silhouettes of migratory birds, including the; Red Knot, Greater Flamingo, Hummingbird, Arctic Tern, and Bar Tailed Godwit, amongst others. By rendering Latin lettering through the forms of a migratory species, the work considers the friction(s) between language, nation and migration. It is undeniable that the diverse languages that are spoken worldwide are products of human migration. However, language has also been instrumentalised in the formation of nations and the stoking of nationalism.
